The award that celebrates car designers, educators and leaders is back for 2024, this time with some fresh categories and new all-star judges
Car Design News is delighted to announce that the People Awards is back for 2024 and is open for entries.
Now in its third year, this event was established to recognise the people behind the product, championing not only those at the top of the chain, but also the unsung heros and those that are less visible in the creative process. The success of the awards has been incredible, and it is all thanks to you.
We want to make it ever better for 2024.
This is not your typical awards show. The biggest names in car design have helped to shape which aspects of design are recognised, and based on conversations across the community, we have added new categories to reflect the continued rise of AI, the role of suppliers within the design process and other trends. For an overview of all the categories so far, go here.
We also welcome new judges this year, including including Citroen’s Pierre Leclercq, Afry’s Rob Dolton and Chris Hamilton of Contechs. They join returning judges from Bentley, Hyundai, Volvo Cars, SAIC, Nissan, Konzepthaus, Lotus and Mahindra, with more to announce soon. For a full rundown of the judges so far, go here.
In the meantime, why not revisit the live judging from last year, held at Lotus’ Mayfair showroom. For 2024, we will be hosted by Nissan Design Europe in Paddington, London.
To enter the People Awards simply create a free account, choose a category and show the judges why you or your nominee deserves to win. To understand the process and requirements for submissions, CDN has created a comprehensive entry guide here. Winners will be crowned at a gala ceremony at the glamourous Londoner Hotel in London’s Leicester Square on 5 December 2024.
Alongside the People Awards, we will once again reveal the winner of the Peter Horbury Fellowship award, which was introduced last year following the storied designer’s passing. Through a partnership with the Royal College of Art and Bridge of Weir, the award aims to support young design talent and will go to a student on the RCA’s Intelligent Mobility course and selected by a course leader.
The deadline to enter the People Awards is 28 June 2024. Good luck!
